MAKER PROJECT
Phase 2 Checklist
Phase 2: Students submit the following for Phase 2 of their Maker Project
Due Date: Sept 30th 2025
Format: Add to the SAME “Phase 1” Google Doc on the folder shared by City as Lab
- DETAILED DESIGN:
- Include a VERY DETAILED DESIGN that shows the materials, measurements, and rough working of the prototype.
- Include sketches that are detailed and labelled.
- Explain the science behind the working. The science needs to be SOUND AND DETAILED and should include any sources if relevant e.g. if you are replicating someone else’s design, do give credit. If you are accessing some scientific principles that are not commonly understood, explain them and cite the source.
- TESTING PLAN:
- By when will the first prototype be fully built? Please consider that you may need to make revisions to your prototype after testing. So you should have enough of a buffer to ensure you can do this before the end of November.
- When will you start testing? How long will the first testing period last?
- What kind of data will you collect? Where will it be documented? In other words, what kinds of data will allow you to state with CONFIDENCE that the prototype is USEFUL/WORKING?
- How will you collect this data? If you are using focus groups, interviews or surveys, please include the actual tool i.e. the questions you will ask, sample size, etc. If you are doing trials, include the number of trials and all the dependent and independent variables.
- RESOURCES: Revise your resource list and budget
- DELEGATION: Who will do the following in your group?
- Build the prototype
- Test the prototype
- Organize and analyse the data
- Revise the prototype and re-test, if needed
- Write the final report
- Capture footage throughout the process to make the final video
- Make the video
- Ensure final submission aligns to the CaL Maker Rubric
- TIMELINE: Please include a timeline for design, testing and completion by End of November. Please consider that you may need to make revisions to your prototype based on the first round of testing.
